The nostalic horse driven carriages - Street Photography

The British has left India long time back but horse driven carriages still ply Calcutta roads. These carriages have been decked up and tourists coming from all over would necessarily have joy rides in one of these carriages which take then around through quite attractive spots in Calcutta. These decked up horse driven carriages are found near the tourist spots in the city. However they are seen in numbers parked near the Victoria Memorial Hall, waiting for people asking for a ride.

It is believed that on November 1st, 1880, the then Viceroy of Bengal, Lord Ripon, inaugurated the horse-drawn tram service between Sealdah and Armenian Ghat in Calcutta.

Street photographs are mirror images of society, displaying "unmanipulated" scenes, with usually unaware subjects.
